A farmer at Helhoughton, near Fakenham, Ukip candidate Stuart Agnew already holds the post of MEP for the Eastern Region.

Running a flock of around 35,000 free range chickens alongside 350 breeding ewes, 300 acres of cereals and 100 acres of sugar beet, Mr Agnew is a member of the NFU, father of three and experienced candidate at previous general elections.

He stood in North Norfolk in 2005 and polled 978 votes; and Mid Norfolk in 2001, polling 1,333 votes.

Although he has contested three constituencies with different names, he has always stood on the patch where he has lived.

In 2007 he challenged for the North Norfolk District Council seat at The Raynhams and lost out to Lib Dem Dawn Wakefield by 401 votes to 250.

The threshold at the general election was to save the 500 deposit, said Mr Agnew, which needs 5pc of the vote which would be around 2,500 depending on turnout.
