Plans for a woodland burial ground at Aylmerton, near Cromer, have been thrown out, more than a year after planners gave their officers delegated authority to approve them subject to receiving more information.

Members of North Norfolk District Council's development committee, meeting today, unanimously rejected David Oliver's application on the grounds that the proposed access to the site, from Tower Road, via Sandy Lane, was unsatisfactory. Objectors claim the roads are too narrow and already busy.

Councillors decided Mr Oliver had been given more than a year to provide an expected tree survey and woodland management plan, and had not done so.

The scheme would have used 55 acres of woodland and included two buildings.

Speaking after the meeting Mr Oliver said he was still considering his options.
