New schools and extensions are in the pipeline as council bosses look to spend £33m to make sure there are enough school places in fast-growing communities.
As part of a 10-year plan to invest in Norfolk's schools, £33m is earmarked to be spent on schools in Hethersett and Wymondham.
In Hethersett, that would see:
• Hethersett Woodside Infant School converting to a primary school and moving to a £8m, 420 place building, behind the village hall. Cash from developers will contribute to that.
• Hethersett VC Junior School converting to a primary school and increasing in size, with a £4.6m extension programme.
• A £8m project to expand Hethersett Academy and develop new playing field space.
In Wymondham, it would mean:
• A £500,000 project to replace and improve sports changing facilities at Wymondham High School. That would free up more space on the school site for extra classroom space.
• A new £7.5m 420-place primary school for Silfield. A potential site has been identified and money ready to be allocated. That will be paid for via developer contributions.
Penny Carpenter, chairman of Norfolk County Council's children's services committee, where the capital programme will be discussed at a meeting next week, said: 'I'm very proud of our school investment programme
'Thousands more children in Norfolk growing up in rapidly expanding communities in our county are now learning in modern school buildings.
'This programme isn't just about bricks and mortar, but about investing in our children's education and supporting our schools to provide the best possible start in life for our youngest residents.
'Ninety percent of Norfolk's schools are good or outstanding and we want to support the county's children to achieve their full potential in the years ahead.'
The schools in Hethersett are due to become all-through primaries in September 2019 and the new Hethersett school has a target date of early in the academic year.
However, planning applications have yet to be lodged, with pre-planning exhibitions to be held in Hethersett the summer.
Silfield Primary School is further behind and is due to be opened as a free school, while the target for Wymondham expansion is 2020.
