Norfolk MP Liz Truss has flouted parliamentary rules by snapping selfies on the parliamentary estate.

Ms Truss uploaded a picture of herself and fellow minister Mel Stride on the front bench to Instagram with the message: 'Mel refused to be left out this time – or he'd tax me!'

The South West Norfolk MP now risks getting into hot water with the parliamentary authorities as photography is strictly forbidden inside the chamber and on most parts of the parliamentary estate.

The rules on taking pictures are so strict that even while parliament was in lock down during the terror attack last year journalists were warned not to take pictures.

But Ms Truss, the chief secretary to the Treasury, was not the only MP getting snap happy this week. Veterans' minister Tobias Ellwood posted an imagine on Twitter as prime minister Theresa May delivered a statement on the recent air strikes on Syria.

A parliamentary spokesman said MPs who broke the rules on taking pictures would be spoken to by officials.

Ms Truss did not comment.
