A Norwich MP has praised new housing guidelines after she was able to help a young couple looking to adopt.
The couple were in a catch-22 situation of not being able to apply for a larger house until they had adopted, but not being able to adopt because their current house is too small to accommodate the child.
Using housing allocation guidance which encourages authorities to work together, North Norwich MP Chloe Smith wrote to the housing authority, and the couple are now able to apply for suitable properties to progress their adoption application.
She said: 'Adoption is a caring and altruistic choice to make and the government is showing its support by bringing in changes to speed up adoption in England and make the social housing system more flexible and responsive.'
