THE Green Party candidate for the Great Yarmouth constituency is Laura Biggart, 46, who has lived in Norwich for 23 years.

After a career in parks management, she is now a researcher and associate tutor in psychology at the University of East Anglia in Norwich and is especially interested in work-life balance.

Ms Biggart said she was formerly a Labour supporter, but disillusion with them and issues like Iraq, as well as a desire to protect the environment, led her to the Green Party.

'I believe in giving people a fair deal for people and the Green Party is the only ones that seem to be offering that.'

In her spare time she is chairman of the trustees of a local charity, Norwich and Norfolk Community Arts. She grows fruit and vegetables on her allotment and is a keen cyclist.

Ms Biggart added: 'I'm excited about the job possibilities and opportunities for Great Yarmouth coming from the new proposed wind farm, and I'm also interested in the coastline, which is clearly under threat.

'I'm also keen to get local people involved in making the decisions about what's going on in their area.'
