Anyone who has tried driving along the A47 will know there has been plenty of waiting around.
Sadly, if the latest Highways England report on our roads is anything to go by, it seems there are only likely to be more and more delays.
As frustrated drivers sit in traffic jams on the notorious Acle Straight and Tilney to East Winch stretch of the road, the government has only classed those stretches as standard trunk roads - which would seem to suggest they won't be priorities for funding.
Quite why they haven't been classified as priority 'expressways' in the way the A11 and A47 from Norwich to Dereham have seems to be very confusing - and very worrying.
These roads are absolute arteries for Norfolk, with one linking the major coastal resort of Great Yarmouth to Norwich and the other bringing the equally major town of King's Lynn closer to the county town.
As if stopping hours of misery for motorists is not enough, think how better transport links could boost our economies.
It is true to say that this document does not, at this stage, outline decisions for funding from 2020 to 2025. But given that these stretches of road missed out on £15.2bn of investment nationally between 2015 and 2020, it doesn't fill us with confidence.
Please, Highways England, don't keep us waiting any longer than we already have. Let us see some light at the end of the road.
