Concerns have been raised by Cromer town councillors about proposals announced by Norfolk police to axe the county's 150 PCSOs, as part of a move that would save £2m.
The council agreed at a meeting tonight to invite senior police figures to explain how the plans would affect the town and surrounding area.
Town councillor Tim Adams said: 'The majority of our safer neighbourhood team are PCSOs, and they have played a very valuable role in the area. We would miss their ability to act as the community face of the police.'
Fellow councillor Phil Harris added that he was angry at the lack of consultation prior to the announcement.
He said: 'It has been a case of 'this is what we're going to do, like it or lump it'.'
However, councillor Brenda Stibbons added that, while she did not support the proposal, she could understand the reasoning behind it.
