Norwich South MP Clive Lewis has demanded further details from the government over claims the promised Norwich in 90 train improvements could be in doubt.
A national newspaper, quoting unnamed National Rail sources, claimed that plans to run four trains a day between the capital and Norwich by May 2019 could be stalled.
But government sources, Norwich North MP Chloe Smith and Greater Anglia have dismissed the claims. A spokesman for the rail franchise said: 'Greater Anglia is meeting all of its franchise commitments – we expect to continue to do so.'
But Mr Lewis has now submitted a question to the Department for Transport asking for details of discussions between the government and Greater Anglia regarding their Norwich in 90 commitments and if they will be achieved.
He said: 'This will be a blow for the city if we cannot have Norwich in 90.'
