Labour may have had mixed success in last week's by-elections, but Labour's only Norfolk MP was on the winning side in the annual parliamentary pancake race.

But he needed a little help from across the political divide to do it. The Norwich South MP crossed the finish line as part of a cross-party team of MPs.

The team was captained by Conservative sports minister Tracey Crouch who shouted 'the fightback starts here' as the Labour MP from Norwich led the team to victory.

Mr Lewis, who is a fan of political alliances - although not with the Conservatives, triumphed over Westminster's top political commentators and members of the House of Lords.

There were plenty of in-jokes as MPs were interviewed following the race. Mr Lewis joked that the MPs had 'good Momentum on the way round' - a nod to the controversial grassroots Corbyn-supporting movement. He insisted pancakes were the only greasy contest on his list amid strongly dismissed rumours he was eying a leadership bid.
