Busy day for Labour's Elizabeth

All candidates will are gearing up for a hectic time on polling day.But Elizabeth Hughes - Labour's hopeful in Mid Norfolk - will be busier than most as she tries to juggle two elections 140 miles apart.

All candidates will are gearing up for a hectic time on polling day.

But Elizabeth Hughes - Labour's hopeful in Mid Norfolk - will be busier than most as she tries to juggle two elections 140 miles apart.

Mrs Hughes is a councillor in the London borough of Hounslow, which is holding its election on the same day as the General Election.

She plans to be in the capital during the day and then travel to Dereham for the count, which starts after the polls close at 10pm.

A result is expected between 3 and 4am and Mrs Hughes will then head back south for the council count at midday on Friday.

'I think I may be flagging by the end of it,' she said.
