And to show her thanks for the medical team which saved her nana's life, Georgia is planning an epic, 50-mile cycle from the Hook of Holland to Amsterdam.

The plucky youngster from Old Lakenham has already raised more than £800 from sponsors for the trek, and all the money will be donated to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital's oncology department.

The hospital's cancer team treated nana, Emma Bussey, 49, after she was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer a few years ago.

Georgia said: 'We are raising money for the hospital because they made my nana not die, and we should help them.

'I'm doing one ride every Sunday and so far the longest I've done is 17 miles.'

Cycling alongside Georgia will be her grandad, Peter Bussey, who is Emma's wife.

Mr Bussey, 54, who lives in Constable Road, said they chose the route in the Netherlands because of its suitability for bicycles.

He said: 'Her bike isn't really built for long distances, so we thought for her to do 50 miles it should be in Holland.

'The route is actually 40 miles but we're going to do an extra 10.'

Mr Bussey said they planned to break the ride up into 10-mile stretches.

He said: 'We're going to do another long ride this weekend and see how it goes on the day.'

Georgia said she was impressed by the amount sponsors had given so far through her webpage at uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/GeorgiaandGrandadsCycle Challange.

She said: 'That's quite a lot of money. I would like to have that much for myself.'

Georgia said she was looking forward to the ride, and also to treating herself at the end of it when she and her grandad arrived in Amsterdam.

She said: 'I'm going to have some cake.'

Georgia is in Year 2 at Lakenham Primary School, but she said she had not yet told her schoolmates about the charity ride.

The cycle will take place on March 31.
