A new life-saving piece of equipment has been installed at a popular shopping centre.

Commemorating the centenary of the Knights of St. Columba, and paying tributes to former members, funds for a new defibrillator have been provided by brothers of the Lowestoft Knights Council - with the new life-saving equipment installed at the Britten Centre in Lowestoft.

Christopher Brooks, action convener of Knights of St. Columba Lowestoft Council, said the defibrillator cabinet and heart re-starter unit was installed by the Britten Centre management team before Christmas in the Britten Centre.

He added: "In January it was dedicated and blessed by Fr Paul Chanh for the benefit of all in the community, who use the bus station and the Britten Centre, adjacent to the Catholic Church.

"Funding the £1500 project, the Knights were assisted by friends and supporters in the Parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea Lowestoft and by brothers of East Anglia Province 27."
