A hirsute dog whose coat was so severely matted he couldn't wag his tail or see properly is back to his best after a canine trust gave him a trim.

Bobby, a 13 and a half-year-old Lhasa Apso, was carrying an extra half a kilo of matted fur when he was handed in to the Dogs Trust in Snetterton.

The condition was so severe that Bobby, who weighs just 9.4kg, was unable to wag his tail as it was matted to his legs.

But a trip to the trust's onsite groomer soon had him wagging again after the excess hair was cut away.

The matted coat was also having an effect on Bobby's vision, and made going to the toilet properly difficult.

With the hair cut away, he is being given daily eye drops to help deal with irritations.

Kate Brewster, Dogs Trust Snetterton Supporter Relations Officer, said Bobby is now looking for a new home.

'With his new look Bobby seems to have unleashed a new burst of energy and 'bouncy Bobby' is back, albeit with a few more greys and needing a few more naps.

'He is looking for an experienced home in which to spend his retirement years with owners who can help administer his favourite eye drops and lavish lots of love and TLC on him.

'We have no doubt that Bobby will make a great addition and just want to find a place where he can shine like the real Bobby Dazzler we know he is.'
