Another Norwich pub is set to lose its longstanding team after 15 years at the helm.
The Brickmakers, on Sprowston Road, has been at the centre of the city music scene for many years.
But in a post on the venue's official Facebook page last night, the leaseholders said it was 'not financially viable' to continue after their contract is up in January next year.
The post, signed by licensees Emma Teasdale, Charley South, and Pam South, said: 'We would like to thank all of our customers, those that have been with us from the start back in 2003 and those that have only just joined the Brickmakers family. The pub would not have been such a success without all of your love and support over the last 15 years.
'To all of the bands, we don't have words to tell you how thankful we are to have had the pleasure of working with all of you, put simply you all rocked the place.'
The trio added: 'This is something we never thought we would have to write and it breaks our hearts to sit here and even contemplate it.'
And said they were planning a 'massive leaving party' and added: 'Just know that we feel honoured to have been able to be part of all of your lives and such a big part of Norwich's extensive and amazing musical community. We will miss it more than you'll ever know.'
The announcement was met with sadness from punters.
Paul Wahlberg said: 'This is such a huge blow for local budding musicians.'
While Tim Ritchie said: 'You should be so proud of the institution you created there.'
Linzi Holding said: 'I'm truly gutted for you all as this was never just a job it was your life's blood and it totally showed with the love, blood, sweat and tears you put into the pub without question. Live music is a dying art and you and the Brickies family strove with all they had to keep that alive.'
It comes as two other Norwich pubs made similar moves in the last week.
Yesterday the team at the York Tavern, on Leicester Street in the golden triangle, said talks for a new 20-year lease with their landlords had broken down.'
We have spent the last four years developing the site and investing a substantial amount of time, money and effort and with your support, we have grown the trade into the highest turnover the site has experienced,' they said.
But they said that 'with regret', the current ownership and management team would hand back the site at the end of the tenancy.
Last week, the Garden House, in Pembroke Road, also in the golden triangle, announced owner Enterprise Inns would not be renewing the lease with the current landlord.
Oscar Gerdes, landlord at the Garden House, said: 'It is with great sadness and not a little disbelief, having explored all legal avenues, we have been forced into closing Garden House after 11 years of operation.'
A spokesperson for Ei Publican Partnerships said: 'We are in touch with our publicans Emma, Charley and Pam regarding their agreement at The Brickmakers. We're aware of the special place this pub has in the local community and the great job they have done to make the pub such a success through supporting the live music scene. We are hopeful we can reach a mutually agreeable solution to resolve the current situation.'
