What a weekend it was – Latitude is fast becoming one of the world's best music festivals.
There is no Glastonbury this year but frankly 'who cares?' Latitude Festival has all the acts, all the comedy – and this year it had all the sunshine as well.
The star of the weekend was Liam Gallagher. His secret set on Saturday evening, peppered with singalong Oasis hits, will live long in the memory. He did play a few new songs but this is a man who knows what he is good at - belting out classics.
Beyonce Knowles' sister Solange shone on Friday night and Alt-J, who first played one of the smaller stages at Southwold's Henham Park in 2012, rounded things off with aplomb.
But this is more than just a music festival. It is about food, cabaret and, most of all, families. The difference between Latitude and ever other major British festival is how welcoming it is to children. From newborn to teenagers this festival caters for everyone.
Jen Walker, from Norwich, said: 'I came last year with some friends. And I said to my mum 'next year we are all going'. So this year I have my daughter Juliet and mum here as well. It is very laid back and child friendly.
'Of course the weather has helped. It has been glorious. Too hot if anything. But no-one has over done it. It has been a very chilled-out weekend. I've not seen anyone too drunk.'
Kevin Sharp, formerly of Colchester but now living in London, said the festival had been the best he had ever attended.
'I go to Glastonbury every year – but this year it has had a year off,' the 39-year-old said. 'So me and my mates decided to do Latitude and to be honest, and I almost hate to say this, it has been better than Glastonbury.
'The organisation – getting in and out of the site and all the staff – has been excellent. Faultless. I've not seen one fight or anyone behaving badly. I've not seen one police officer. It is quite something.
'I loved Liam. What a gig that was. And I really enjoyed Solange on Friday night. Absolutely brilliant.'
