At a residents’ meeting earlier this year 10 volunteers agreed to be trained in how to use speed-checking equipment.

Forest Heath district councillor Louise Marston said: “The whole community identified the issue of speeding locally as a real concern and having done that they came together to work on a way they could tackle the concern together.

“I am very happy to give some financial support to such a strong community effort.”

The speed check and safety equipment cost £1,600 and £800 came from the parish council, with a further £400 each from the locality budgets of Louise Marston and her fellow district councillor for the area Colin Noble.

Peta Gyte, from the parish council, said they hoped the volunteers would make all the difference.
