Emergency services were called to King's Lynn town centre after a 34-year-old workman fell from a ladder onto a roof this morning.

The man - who is believed to come from lancashire - is understood to have been working at the rear of of Ernest Jones, jewellers, Norfolk Street, when he fell.

Two fire engines and the aerial ladder unit were called from Lynn fire station to help rescue the man, who had suffered head injuries in the fall.

Police were called to direct traffic at the scene and an ambulance crews took him to the town's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

This afternoon doctors described the man's condition as 'stable'.
