A female robber jumped over a counter and threatened a shop worker with a knife before making off with a carrier bag full of cash from the till. The Tesco Express store in Magdalen Road, Norwich, was full of customers when the raider struck.

The hunt continued last night for a woman robber who jumped over a counter and threatened a shop worker with a knife.

The Tesco Express store in Magdalen Road, Norwich, was full of customers when she struck at about 7.15pm on Friday.

Nobody was hurt but staff were left shocked and shaken.

The robber made off with a carrier bag full of cash from

the till.

Det Con Kim Taylor last night urged anyone who saw what happened and had not yet contacted Norfolk police to come forward.

"We know that the shop was busy at the time of the robbery, and at this time on a Friday evening there would have been lots of people either passing by on their way home from work or going into the city for an evening out.

"Any information will be treated in the strictest of confidence," said Det Con Taylor.

The woman was seen talking to a man in his late-20s just before the raid. He was white with face stubble, was wearing dark clothing and was riding a light-coloured mountain bike.

The raider herself is thought to be in her 20s.

She was white, about 5ft 5in, and slim. At the time she was wearing a dark-coloured jacket and a dark-coloured peaked cap.
