A musician who was raised in King's Lynn will return to her home town today to play there for the first time.

Singer-songwriter Sarah Gillespie will be performing at Lynn's town hall to raise funds for Norfolk Hospice Tapping House. Now living in London, the singer has released three albums and is looking forward to her Norfolk homecoming.

'I'm not nervous,' said Sarah. 'I am really looking forward to it. There will be people I haven't seen for years. My old music teacher will be there (who gave me a D incidentally!) and it will be fun for my dad who still lives in Lynn.'

'I've never played in Lynn. When I was a kid I used to jump on the train and go busking in Cambridge. I've played Norwich Arts Centre a few times and some clubs in Cambridge but haven't made it back to Lynn.'

The singer chose to help Norfolk Hospice after the charity helped care for her mother, Susan Broyden, while she was ill with bowel cancer. 'My mum passed away nearly two years ago and she received palliative care at home. Tapping house sent a nurse nearly everyday to help care for her. It was really really amazing.'
