The pub, in Ling Common Road, North Wooton, will host the ‘Pups Down the Pub’ event on Saturday, June 27.

Proprietor Irene Armstrong said: “As we are one of the only dog-friendly pubs in the area, we thought it would be great to organise a day dedicated to them.

“Anything that’s dog-related will be happening, from demonstrations and competitions to activities and stalls.

“We’re really looking forward to putting something on an event that’s slightly different from other events.”

Dogs can be entered into competitions, with categories including ‘Best Fancy Dressed’ and ‘Best Rescued’ on the dog show list.

There will also be puppy training seminars for new owners who need advice on their pups and local retailers showing off the latest pet products on the markets.

Ms Armstrong added: “We’ve even heard from dog-related charities who are interested in coming along; the amount of interest this has generated so far has been incredible.”
