A loving brother is continuing to fundraise in memory of his two sisters, who both died from cystic fibrosis.
Charmaine Black, 18, and her sister Mary, 22, from King’s Lynn, both died at Papworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire, in 2014 and 2007, respectively.
Their brother Scott Black, 27, from South Wootton, near King’s Lynn, has pledged to continue to raise money for the cystic fibrosis unit at Papworth, where his sisters were treated.
And last month he held a charity ball at the Knights Hill Hotel near King’s Lynn, which raised £10,000 for the unit.
Mr Black, who works as a scaffolder at the Wissington sugar factory, said: “I want to get more support from people and make people more aware of this disease.
“I was only aiming to raise £4,500 at the ball. We held a raffle and had an auction with a signed Norwich City FC shirt, and holidays in Spain.
“Shaun Hagen motor services in Saddlebow, Lynn and Nick Watling, of CW Engineering, Hardwick, Lynn, gave a large amount of money each to get me to £10,000.
“We will be holding another charity ball at Knights Hill next year, so people can still donate by contacting me. I’m also looking for auction prizes for next year’s ball.”
Charmaine Black was diagnosed with the genetic condition shortly after birth, and she died on April 19 last year. Her elder sister, Mary, died on November 6, 2007.
Charmaine Black attended Gaywood Community Primary School and started to experience problems with her lungs when she was around 15 and attending Springwood High School in Lynn.
She started work with catering firm Servex at Lynn’s Hardwick Tesco store, but was signed off sick a short while later. Her sister also struggled with the condition for most of her life. She was also a former pupil at Gaywood Community Primary School and Springwood High.
