Wells new Carnival Queen Kelly Fait will have no trouble in her new role, because she was an attendant a few years ago so she learned about what is involved.

Kelly, a 20-year-old medical practice dispenser, who lives at Langham but attended High School at Wells, is looking forward to her year ahead and particularly the summer carnival at the beginning of August.

Within hours of being judged to be the Carnival Queen Kelly on Fridaywas busy encouraging people to become involved in helping to run the week-long carnival.

Along with the other three contestants, Kelly had to write out why she wanted to be the town's Carnival Queen and these were considered by the Carnival committee and the winner announced on Friday a free disco at the town's Golden Fleece pub.

The role is once again being sponsored by Wells Lifeboat.

"I think Wells carnival is really good and I hope that this year it is better than ever because it attracts visitors from far and wide. There is a packed programme of events, many of then free." she said.
