One lucky Knapton resident brought the New Year in with a bang after bagging a £30,000 win thanks to her postcode. on Saturday NR28 0RS was drawn as a winner of People’s Postcode Lottery’s Street Prize on December 30.
Susan Heath (62), from The Grove, was blown away by her festive win.
She said: “I am absolutely delighted and stunned. I really did not expect to win so much when I pulled the cheque out of the envelope. I’m going to do the house up a bit, which I’ve really needed to do for a while.
“I signed up to play because so much of the money goes to a wide variety of charities and causes which I really support, and then there’s the little excitement of thinking you might get a tenner every now and again – I didn’t expect quite this much!”
Winners of the postcode lottery can win an amount of up to £400,000.
People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Jeff Brazier presented Ms Heath with the golden envelope containing the winning cheque.
Mr Brazier said: “Congratulations to Susan! I think 2018 is going to be a fantastic year for her, and it was a pleasure to surprise her with an incredible £30,000 to kick it off.”
Ms Heath joins the six north Norfolk winners from 2017, who variously won prizes of £1,000 in Trimmingham and Cromer.
£255 million has been raised to date by players of People’s Postcode Lottery for over 4,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A local group that has received support from players is East Anglia Anchorage Trust, which was awarded £19,999 this year for a project providing affordable housing to homeless and vulnerable young people.
