A JustGiving page has been set up to raise money for veterans who are homeless in Norfolk.

More than £1,000 has been raised so far.

Homeless charities estimate there are about 7,000 ex-servicemen and women living rough and in desperate need of a roof over their head, and many of these are veterans who have returned to live in the Norfolk area.

Matthew Page, organiser of the fundraising, argues that the Armed Forces Covenant is not being honoured by local authorities who have failed to house ex-servicemen and women.

Mr Page, said: 'Homelessness can happen to anyone at anytime and today every town is seeing it. The number of veterans becoming homeless is increasing and this needs to stop. In fact homelessness of any kind needs to stop.

'Veterans from the Royal Anglian Regiment, Light Dragoons and RAF are sleeping rough on Saturday, February 3 to highlight this and raise much needed funds for local charities.'
