A Suffolk factory worker who downloaded more than 300 indecent images of children has been jailed for six months.

Police went to Paul Baker's home in Pleasant Place, Beccles, after ambulance staff who were called to the premises after his mother fell out of bed saw images on a computer screen that caused them concern, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Computer equipment and discs were examined by experts and more than 300 indecent images of children were found as well as four indecent movies of children, said Michael Crimp, prosecuting.

He said of theses images on a scale of one to five, with level five being the most serious, 92 were at level one, 69 were at level two, 32 were at level three, 120 were at level four and one was at level five. One of the movies was at level two and three were at level four.

Baker, 46, admitted two offences of making indecent images of children and was jailed for six months. He was also ordered to sign on the sex offenders' register for 10 years and was made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order for seven years.

Charles Myatt, for Baker, said his client had worked at a local food factory for more than 20 years and lived with his bedridden mother.

He described Baker, who has no previous convictions, as a 'loner' and 'socially inept' and said a prison sentence would be a terrifying experience for him.
