As one of King’s Lynn’s best-loved events gets under way, campaigners are appealing for people to shout out how much they love the town and its surrounds.

Tomorrow is Love West Norfolk Day, when organisers hope people will go online to say what makes places like Lynn, Hunstanton or Downham Market special.

A special facebook page has been set up so you can do just that.

“Love West Norfolk day is an opportunity for us all to shout loudly and proudly about beautiful West Norfolk,” it says. “Whatever you do, we would love to have you involved in #lovewestnorfolk day.”
Organiser Michelle Gant said: “We are asking people to get involved online and tell us why they love West Norfolk via our Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, using the hashtag #lovewestnorfolk. We would also love people to share their photos of West Norfolk, again via our social media channels.

“We would love businesses to get involved too and one way of doing that is through our #lovewestnorfolk ‘selfie’ sign which we have available. It would also be great for organisations to display our poster or our logo, on emails, for example.

“We are also encouraging individuals and companies to share their good news, case studies, or stories about West Norfolk on the day, again using our social media channels, and our hashtag #lovewestnorfolk.

“Another way for people to get involved and show their love for West Norfolk is by fundraising for one of the many great local causes.

“Throughout the day, we’ll be sharing what people are doing or saying to celebrate West Norfolk across all our social media channels. We would love to get #lovewestnorfolk trending nationally on Twitter.

“Whatever people want to do to celebrate #lovewestnorfolk day, we’d love to have them involved.”

The special day comes as the much-loved Mart gets under way in Lynn. Fairground families have spent the last two days setting up their rides ready for this lunchtime’s official opening. After a blessing from the Bishop of Lynn, the 800-year-old tradition will be officially opened by West Norfolk Carol Bower.

Social media channels are @LoveWestNorfolk Love West Norfolk on Facebook, love_west_norfolk on Instagram, and www.lovewestnorfolk.co.uk.
