The scene was set for a romantic summer wedding in a beautiful quiet corner of Norfolk.

And when the cameras rolled it proved an idyllic day for TV presenter Jake Humphrey as he headed home to Norfolk to tie the knot on Saturday.

The 28-year-old Football Focus and former CBBC star married his long-term girlfriend Harriet during a ceremony at Caistor St Edmund Church, near Norwich on Saturday afternoon.

His 26-year-old bride looked stunning in a shimmering silver-blue dress as the couple were showered with white rose petals as they left the church before being driven to their reception in a 1915 Model T Ford.

The couple were watched by proud parents Rex and Elizabeth Humphrey and Ivan and Vivienne Pegg.

Mr Humphrey, the former chief executive of Age Concern Norfolk, read excerpts from Captain Corelli's Mandolin during the ceremony officiated by the Rev Rosie Bunn.

More than 120 guests filled the church for a lively service which as well as hymns and readings, also featured rousing performances from gospel singers Souls of Prophecy.

And there was even a cameo appearance from the world of celebrity - with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Little Britain star Anthony Head jetting in from America, complete with suitcase and shades…moments after the ceremony ended.

The two men became friends after Mr Humphrey worked on the Celebrity Dog Show series where the actor's wife Sarah Fisher was the dog trainer.

Saturday Show co-presenters Fern Cotton and Simon Grant, who was one of the ushers, were also at the reception.

Both the bride and groom grew up in Norfolk.

Mr Humphrey, a former Framlingham Earl and Hewett School pupil, began his TV career as a runner in Norwich before heading to London to secure his big break.

However, this was no showbiz wedding as the couple were keen that friends and family would be at the heart of their wedding celebrations.

Many of the guests, who were staying at St Giles House, in Norwich, headed for a double-decker Routemaster bus to take them on to Raynthorpe Hall, at Flordon.

The 28-year-old, who as a children's TV frontman and Football Focus host, is used to an audience of millions, admitted that he had been nervous ahead of his big day.

“It's just lovely to come home, both our families are from Norfolk,” he said. “We are marrying in the church my sister got married in and I have been coming to since I was a lad. It's really nice to have all our friends and family coming along.

“TV is great fun and brilliant to do but it's a very fickle industry,” he added. “One minute you are the flavour of the month and the next you aren't. Friends and family are there forever

“Everybody thinks because you work in television your speech is going to be fantastic, but I'm a little nervous and I think I going to have a mixture of writing it down and adlibbing, because there are some things which have to be said,” he added.

He said the couple are to spend their honeymoon in Bermuda and New York, something kept secret from Harriet until after the big day. But there will be little time to settle in to wedded life as the TV presenter is off again presenting the Women's World Cup in Shanghai.
