Investigations were continuing today into the identification of a body found in Thetford Forest.

Police were called to the woodland, near Mundford, by a member of the public who found the remains at 7.45pm on Friday . Officers carried out a detailed search of the area on Sunday.

They believe the remains could be those of a person from Eastbourne in Sussex, who was first reported missing in February 2006. The man's identity is expected to be confirmed later this week but it is thought it could be Ron Hopper, who had been living in lodgings in Eastbourne.

He was last seen when he left to cycle to Eastbourne town centre. He was 26 at the time and had no known link with Norfolk.
