A mother-of-four whose car crashed off a Suffolk road died from spinal injuries, an inquest has heard.
Sonya Colton, 29, was found beside Thwaite Road, Thorndon, on the morning of December 27 last year.
Today an inquest into the tragedy was formally opened at Suffolk Coroners Court in Ipswich.
Assistant Suffolk Coroner Dr Daniel Sharpstone said a passer-by had discovered Sonya’s Peugeot 206 car in a ditch in a wooded area by the roadside.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the accident but she was declared dead at the scene.
Dr Sharpstone said initial medical findings indicated that Sonya died as a result of having sustained spinal injuries.
Sonya, who had formerly lived in Victoria Road, Oulton Broad before moving to Roman Way, Stoke Ash four and a half years ago, was mother to four children, the youngest just four months old at the time of her death.
Her family described her as a ‘much-loved princess to so many’ in a tribute last month.
Dr Sharpstone adjourned the inquest until May 26 to allow enquiries to be completed.
