Inquest opening hears retired East Runton merchant banker shot himself

A retired merchant banker who suffered from depression died after shooting himself in his garden, an inquest heard.

The inquest into the death of Elliot Macadam, 70, of East Runton, near Cromer, was opened and adjourned in Norwich by Norfolk coroner William Armstrong today.

Mr Armstrong said during the opening: “Mr Macadam was known to have suffered depression and on the evening of May 4 he went into the garden of his home address and shot himself.”

Emergency services were called but he died at his home.

It is not yet known when the full inquest hearing will take place.
