Inquest of 61-year-old man who died in West Earlham flat fire is opened

An inquest hearing into the death of a West Earlham man has been opened and adjourned for further investigation.

Hugh Kearney, 61, died at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital on Sunday following a fire in his Wilberforce Road flat late on Saturday night.

The inquest into the death of Mr Kearney - originally from Scotland and known locally as 'Hughie' - was opened by assistant deputy coroner David Osborne in Norwich this morning, with an initial cause of death given as 'unascertained'.
