The £75,000 refit has enlarged the enclosure for the resident colony of Humboldt Penguin, a vulnerable species, and the new additions who arrived earlier this week.

It now has a deep-dive pool, waterfall and additional nesting boxes to encourage breeding behaviour.

The Mayor of West Norfolk Carol Bower and eco-warriors from Hunstanton Primary School cut the ribbon.

Nigel Croasdale, Sea Life general manager said “We are so excited to be at this stage and be able to encourage guests to learn about the threats Humboldt Penguins face in the wild. The new enclosure will offer our visitors the opportunity to get really close to these amazing birds and appreciate their individual personalities”.

“Our vision is for people to immerse themselves in their new home and be truly captivated by them.”
