Hunstanton lifeboat was launched this afternoon to go to the aid of a kite surfer reported to be in difficulty off the town's beach.
On arrival at the scene, just after 12.45pm, it was confirmed that the surfer, who came from Exeter, was uninjured and did not need assistance.
The lifeboat crew recovered his kite and brought it back to the boathouse, in Old Hunstanton, where the call was logged as a false alarm.
