Hundreds of fearless Sheringham folk will be welcoming in 2020 by donning fancy dress and racing into the sea, in the town's traditional New Year's Day dip.

The event, which was first held three years ago when just 50 people braved the waves, last year saw 350 hardy swimmers take part, raising more than £1,500 for the town's RNLI lifeboat.

Chris Taylor, who helps fellow lifeboat helmsman Liam Cooper and Sheringham Carnival Association organise the dip, said: "It's a great community event and there is also a £50 voucher from the Crown pub on offer for the best costume."

Anyone wanting to take part should meet at the 'Tank' on the east beach from 11am for a briefing at 11.30am. The dip will take place at midday and under 18s should accompanied by an adult.
