Royal wedding fever gripped Swaffham yesterday - and it is hoped it will be the catalyst for a new lease of community spirit in the town.
An estimated 700 people enjoyed live music from The Strollers, games and face painting for children, a fancy dress competition and a range of refreshments - and meeting new and old friends.
More than 40 businesses put up William and Kate flags around the Market Place to create a real sea of red, white and blue and organisers were delighted with the way the town got behind the event,
'The turnout has been significantly better than we hoped for,' said Dennis Tallon, of Swaffham Lions, which put on the Royal Wedding party.
'The town has been brilliant to back us and it has been a true celebration. And it has not just been a celebration of the wedding but it has been one for Swaffham.'
Mr Tallon added: 'People have said we have got to keep it up and keep the spirit up.'
The Lions also produced 100 Swaffham Royal Wedding mugs and they were quickly snapped up.
