Hundreds of people congregated at St Peter Mancroft Church in Norwich to sing carols with the cast of this years pantomime.

The crowds were treated to songs and readings from the cast of Snow White, which is currently running at the Theatre Royal.

Packed around half an hour before the service began at 11am, the church was filled to the brim with many standing at the back to enjoy the performances.

Snow White writer, director and panto dame Richard Gauntlett said: 'The Theatre Royal Carol Service at St Peter Mancroft is a yearly festive treat for all the cast and it's always lovely to see the church so full. It really starts our Christmas for us.'

Jane Walsh, executive producer of the panto, said: 'It's a really special service for all of us at the theatre and we are hugely grateful to the Revd Robert Avery and everyone at St Peter Mancroft for making us so welcome and looking after us so well.'

Traditional carols were sung as well as Christmas favourites such as Let It Snow, Walking in a Winter Wonderland and Sleigh Ride. There were also readings of festive tales which young children eagerly listened to.

Katy Gant, 35, of Blofield, attends the service with her family every year.
