The go-ahead could be given next week to plans for 86 new homes on the site of a redundant factory in Attleborough.

Applicant Hamilton Acorn Ltd wants to demolish its former paint brush factory in Halford Road to make way for the new development.

Planning officers have recommended the outline proposals be approved when they are considered by Breckland Council's planning committee on Monday.

Neither Attleborough Town Council or Norfolk County Council's higways department have objected to the scheme. In a report, officers said: 'It is considered that the proposed residential development would result in a reduction of traffic compared to the use of the site for industrial purposes.'

The new homes would be 'well located' for local services and facilities, would be consistent with the character and appearance of the surrounding area, and the anticipated impact on the sewer network would not be any greater than that expected from the site's continued use as an industrial area, it added.
