South Norfolk Councillors have given the go-ahead to submit a planning application for a former care home in Long Stratton.
The district council acquired Cygnet House in Swan Lane in 2009 after the building was made redundant as a care home.
Members of the local authority's cabinet gave their backing to submit outline plans for the site, which includes proposals for homes and two office buildings.
The scheme, which has been drawn up by Ingleton Wood, following a consultation exercise conducted by the Prince's Foundation, includes plans for around 50 new homes, 10pc of which will be affordable.
The proposals also includes two office buildings.
