A festival inspired by a chance meeting with a homeless man promises to be better than ever, according to its organiser.

Helen Shepherd launched Home Festival, in Mundford, last year after a chance encounter in 2012.

'I was walking in Norwich on my way to a meeting and a homeless guy said to me 'it must be nice to be you'.

'I felt so bad about it and it stayed with me. By the time I got home, I decided to do something about it,' she said.

This year's event, taking place this weekend on a site opposite the entrance to Lynford Hall, will again be raising funds for St Martins Housing Trust in Norwich.

Ms Shepherd said the charity's work was 'hidden away'.

'They do so much good work and no one really knows too much about it.

'I suppose some people might think it's a bit controversial because they don't understand homelessness. Some might think people want to be homeless, or that they are too lazy to work and have a home.

'But most have problems with family or mental health that have led them to this terrible situation,' she said.

The festival takes places tomorrow from 11am to 11pm.

Bands playing include local acts The Thinking Men, Goldstar, Differential, Matt Selfe, Chasing Creation and John McKay, performing over two stages.

Youngsters from Brandon Music Arts Project (MAP) will also be performing on an acoustic stage.

Plenty of family entertainment is promised, including a climbing wall, and children's workshops to make musical instruments and more.

Poy dancers will be displaying their skills, while a bouncy castle and face painting will provide fun for children.

Advance ticket sales end today, with tickets available from Mundford Post Office and newsagent.

Tickets are £10 in advance for adults, £5 for children or £26 for a family of two adults and two children.

Entrance on the day costs £12 for adults, £7 for children and £30 for a family ticket.
