A family-friendly café is set to open in Holt, offering cooking, music and gardening groups for young children, their families and the community.

The Treehouse Café will operate from the children's centre in Charles Road, Holt, when Norfolk County Council's new early childhood and family service launches in October.

The eco-friendly café, which will be run by a community interest company, will include a zero-waste shop and a community fridge where people can help themselves to donated food.

There will also be a community allotment where food grown can be used in the café.

Café directors Rachel Forsyth and Lorna Berry said in a joint statement "It will be a home from home, a place where everyone is welcome and can enjoy a cuppa without being rushed."

John Fisher, the council's cabinet member for children's services, said: "Our new service will get help to more of the families that need it."
