Pantomime jokes helped raise £2,500 for a new children's hospice in the heart of Norfolk.

The money from the Hetthersett Pantomime Group performance of Robinson Crusoe will go towards the East Anglia's Children's Hospices' (EACH) nook appeal.

EACH has raised £7m of its £10m target for a new Norfolk base, which will replace its Quidenham hospice.

Building work started on the nook hospice off Pigot Lane in Framingham Earl in November.

Judith Sykes, who leads the nook friends group, said: 'Hethersett Pantomime Group members are all amateurs, but the performance was very professional and enjoyable.'

Hethersett panto members have put on performances at the Back Lane village hall every year since 1970.

Performances are followed by bucket collections and the total raised for good causes since 1970 is £107,350.
