Parents say they are 'extremely happy' with the service provided by a Hethersett nursery which as been rated as good by Ofsted.

Rockinghorse Day Nursery, based in two adjoining properties in Great Melton Road, was inspected in February.

A subsequent report has praised the nursery for providing a 'calm, homely and welcoming environment' where staff are 'caring and sensitive to children's needs'.

It said: 'Children are well-provided for in the Early Years Foundation Stage and are making good progress in their learning and development.

'They benefit from a welcoming and child-centred environment where they are well-supported by caring and enthusiastic staff.

'Children's individual needs are met well as staff are proactive in ensuring they have a good knowledge of the individual needs of the children in their care.'

Inspectors also highlighted the children's 'very good' behaviour and their enjoyment of a garden, which includes a small pond, wildlife area, planting containers and a grassed area.

Although records were judged as 'appropriately maintained', the report recommended that the nursery reviewed its documentation including admission forms after it was found written permission had not been obtained from parents in terms of how to treat children in a medical emergency.

It also asked that risk assessments were widened to all activities, for the first aid box to be updated, to ensure all children adopt good hand-washing practices from an early age and to increase the range of information shared with parents to establish clearer starting points for children's learning.
