Details of one of the early phases of a 1,196-home development in Hethersett have been agreed.
Outline planning permission for the homes on the 206-acre site to the north of the village was given by South Norfolk Council in 2013.
On Wednesday, at the council's planning committee, councillors green-lighted a reserved matters application – covering details including access and landscaping – from Taylor Wimpey for 95 homes.
Of the 95, which will be a mix of one to five bedroom properties, 19 will be affordable housing.
Five letters of objection have been received, with the majority centring on strained services in the village.
Comments on the council's planning website from people living in roads including Ash Close and Briar Road say that 'small village roads will be left overcrowded' and 'unable to cope'.
The larger scheme will include a primary school, shops, business units, a doctors surgery and sports pitches. Hethersett Parish Council said that it should only be approved if a traffic management plan and site opening hours restrictions were put in place.
