A nine-year-old boy on holiday in Norfolk does not want to go back home until the family's pet dog is found.
Nine-year-old Billy Mitchell is from London but was visiting Norfolk on holiday with his mother Tracey and her partner Stephen Green.
Four-year-old Lulu was out on a walk with owner Mr Green at about 7.15pm on Saturday when she slipped out of her collar and fell into the water at St Benet's Abbey, near Acle and was swept away by the strong current.
Mr Green and Ms Mitchell, who have a boat in Norfolk, were unable to get to her and the Broads Authority and Hemsby Lifeboat were called to help.
Lulu has not been found, and the family has started a campaign to find the female Staffordshire bull terrier, putting up posters around the area where she went missing.
Ms Mitchell said: 'Billy does not want to leave until she is found. He is really sad about what has happened; everywhere Billy went, Lulu was there too.
'She is an absolutely lovely pet, and means the world to us.'
More than 30 concerned well-wishers stepped in to help the family on Saturday night, searching for micro-chipped Lulu until about 4am, when they were forced to give up until the following morning.
Since then Mr Green has had to return to London to work, but Ms Mitchell and Billy have been out looking for Lulu every day.
