A Norwich domestic violence charity has launched a new video to help the public understand that abuse does not just have to be physical.

The moving film for Leeway Domestic Violence and Abuse Services uses actors to show how sexual, psychological or financial abuse can be just as devastating for victims as bruises and physical violence.

It has been released during a week-long campaign which urges victims of domestic violence to speak out and seek support.

Key agencies including the police and Norfolk County Council signed a commitment this week to continue tackling abuse as part of the Norfolk Says No White Ribbon campaign.

Emily Nudd, marketing and sustainability officer for Leeway, which supports more than 6,000 adults and children every year across Norfolk and Suffolk, said: 'Domestic violence doesn't just mean violent behaviour. We produced this short film to drive awareness of the different types of domestic abuse which can be physical, sexual, psychological or financial abuse.

'It can take place in any relationship regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, wealth or lifestyle. This thought-provoking short film aims to communicate the facts of domestic violence to a wider audience of individuals or families who may require our services.'
