A leading brain doctor sent a video of himself lying naked in bed from his hospital email account to a patient with whom he had started a sexual relationship, a tribunal has heard.
Dr Simon Shields, who was a consultant at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) for 10 years, also sent inappropriate emails to the patient during a relationship which lasted just under three months.
The details emerged at a hearing of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service, which makes decisions about doctors' fitness to practice.
Dr Shields treated the patient, known only as Patient A, between July 27, 2005, and May 8, 2013.
The patient was an outpatient who attended clinics with Dr Shields.
Dr Shields admitted that in the latter half of February 2013, he sent inappropriate emails and started a sexual relationship with the patient.
One email stated: 'Will you be having an early night? I took a vid to help you..X', and included an attachment consisting of a video of Dr Shields lying naked in bed.
Dr Shields was investigated by a member of NNUH, who discovered the emails in Dr Shields' hospital account.
The relationship between Dr Shields and Patient A ended in May 8, after it 'peetered out' after the pair had been on holiday.
Dr Shields, who left NNUH in June 2014, will now await the decision of the tribunal as to whether or not his fitness to practice has been impaired.
