A final year student has been awarded £500 after winning the Jenny Lind Medal at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
Emily Ward scooped the prize, which has been awarded for the last four years by the paediatric team within the hospital. The student won the award for her presentation about a rare complication of an ear infection in a child.
Nandu Thalange, NNUH paediatric consultant, said: 'The primary purpose of the prize is to encourage medical students to explore an area of child health in more detail and perhaps to think about paediatrics as a career choice. We look for originality of thought, clarity of expression and presentation and ability to handle questions - Emily excelled in all of these areas.'
The prize is funded from royalties from the textbook 'Essentials of Paediatrics' written by staff at the NNUH.
