The 70th anniversary of the National Health Service was celebrated by almost 300 people who took part in a special parkrun at Colney Lane.
Hundreds of parkruns across the UK signed up to be part of the NHS70 event. So, it was appropriate, given it takes place just a stone’s through from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, that the Colney Lane run was among them.
Organisers said 280 people had taken part in Saturday’s event, with many people running in fancy dress, 90 first-timers and 90 people recording new personal bests.
More than 20 volunteers helped to make the event possible and staff from NHS and health charities attended to give out information and answered questions about how to stay healthy.
The Colney Lane parkrun was founded in December 2017 and since then 1,476 participants have completed 4,208 parkruns, covering a total of more than 13,000 miles.
