Mixed reactions to QEH ‘inadequate’ status

There has been a mixed reaction from the public to the damning CQC report of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The hospital was rated inadequate by the Care Quality Commission following an inspection between April and June this year.

Hospital boss Jon Green apologised to patients, staff and the community but pledged improvements will be made.

People in the King’s Lynn area took to social media to express their views after the report was revealed on Wednesday.

On Facebook, Michael Kernan said: “Inadequate is putting it nicely.”

Veronica Medler said: “I have been a few times and never had any problems. You may have to wait half an hour longer but that’s all.”

Jade Webster said on Facebook: “This is so sad to hear, but unfortunately the hospital is now too small to cater for the amount of people here.

“I had an emergency C-section and I can’t fault these guys.”

Marc Skeldon said: “They’ve always been amazing in my experience.”

Colleen Roper said there was “always fantastic care”, while Vivien Bates said staff were “overworked”.

JanetM @Cilvrnum on Twitter said: “The hospital is a Foundation Trust and is self-financing and self-managing. It could have avoided this situation.”
